North’s new five-year extension to play three games in Hobart isn’t far away according to chairman James Brayshaw.

The current arrangement expires at the end of the season.

"We are very much looking forward to extending what is a great partnership down here in Hobart," Brayshaw said.

"We think it's going to be by five years, we think it's going to be about three games. We're just massaging a little bit."

The next North home game at Blundstone Arena is against Richmond in Round 11, followed by Sydney in Round 22.

Brayshaw described the club’s deal as "an unbelievable partnership".

"If and when we get the extension done - and we think it's pretty close - we will be absolutely delighted.

“We will also be working with the AFL and AFL Tasmania to establish academies around the state, that’s on our agenda. We think that’s not too far away.”

Brayshaw also revealed the club was working with the Hobart City Council to bring its award-winning Huddle program to Tasmania.

“Our great hope with [Lord Mayor] Sue Hickey and the local council is that we can bring it down here,” Brayshaw said.

“It’s basically a classroom at our footy club that has close to 10,000 people go through it for new Australians.

“It’s amazing think and what we want to do is grow it … and bring it down here so the young people can experience it.”
