At the end of each season, there is the obligatory discussion about who could take “Charlie” home. Footy fans stretch their memories back to games played several months prior in an effort to identify their club’s best chance at winning the coveted award.

This year NMFC.com.au is asking for your help to determine the three best players from each game and you can vote in the Mazda Spirit Awards for your best three Kangaroos.

Running NMFC fan leaderboard

10 – Todd Goldstein
8 – Jarrad Waite
5 – Ben Cunnington, Jack Ziebell
4 – Daniel Wells
3 – Brent Harvey, Nick Dal Santo, Sam Gibson, Robbie Tarrant
2 – Ben Jacobs
1 – Ben Brown, Scott Thompson

Todd Goldstein’s three votes in Round 9 meant he took the lead in the Brownlow Tracker, overtaking Jarrad Waite.

However this week it appears tough for any Roos to poll votes after falling to Sydney by 26 points at the SCG.

Here is the case for each of the players in the running for the votes, in alphabetical order. We’ll pick our 3-2-1, then you can have your say.

Ben Cunnington – NMFC

One of the few Roos to have a significant impact on the game, Cunnington was influential with his 32 disposals (16 contested) and six clearances.

Dan Hannebery – Sydney

Freed from the shackles of a Ben Jacobs tag, the Swans midfielder relished the extra space and finished with 34 disposals, eight inside 50’s and six clearances.

Josh Kennedy – Sydney

Kennedy had an incredible 22 contested disposals and 12 tackles, proving almost unstoppable in the contest.

Jarrad McVeigh – Sydney

Playing off half-back, McVeigh had seven rebound 50’s as he was responsible for most of Sydney’s line-breaking in the defensive half. He also chipped in with two goals at crucial times.

Tom Mitchell – Sydney

With a game and career-high 41 disposals, Mitchell was awarded the Goodes-O’Loughlin Medal on Friday night as he ran riot in the Sydney midfield.
