North Melbourne’s historic ‘Boomer 427’ memorabilia campaign has been officially recognised at an AFL awards ceremony.
The Roos were awarded the 2016 Best Club and Licensee collaboration for their merchandise campaign marking Brent Harvey’s AFL/VFL games record.
As part of the momentous event, the club’s apparel partner Canterbury produced another one-off jumper which again proved popular.
Harvey’s own book, ‘Boomer’, was also a popular item when released to coincide with his milestone.
North GM – Consumer Business & New Markets Dino Imbriano said every department at the club embraced the campaign and deserved to share in the success.
“This was certainly a real team effort and everyone pitched in to make sure this campaign was a success,” Imbriano.
“There was lots of planning in the lead up to this campaign and everyone from ‘Boomer’ himself through to our media, marketing and membership teams put in a really big effort to ensure it was again a success.
“It’s certainly a milestone we’re unlikely to see broken, so we’re proud to have been able to play a part in AFL history.”
This is the second year in a row the club has won the award, and also the second year North was the only AFL club to be recognised at the awards.
North Melbourne combined with licensees Canterbury, Playcorp, SE Products, Licensing Essentials, Sporting Souvenirs, Sherrin and Pan MacMillan to produce merchandise to mark the milestone.
