North Melbourne travels to Perth to restart its season against West Coast after 17 days between matches.

It’ll be the first time the Kangaroos have faced the Eagles since last year’s preliminary final defeat.

Midfielders

The fitness of Daniel Wells is a key talking point leading up to Sunday afternoon. After missing the clash against Adelaide in Round 14, he’ll face a fitness test on his troublesome calf before any decision on whether he makes the flight.

Ryan Clarke’s ball-winning form in the VFL before the bye has him right in contention for an AFL debut. His 33 disposals in his last Werribee start also came with 10 tackles and six marks.

Forwards

Much like Wells, Jarrad Waite also has to pass a fitness test, this one on his hip, to face the Eagles.

In Waite’s absence, Majak Daw was named to face Adelaide, but was a late withdrawal due to weather conditions.

There is rain forecast for Perth this weekend, which throws up the dilemma of how to structure the forward line on the long Domain Stadium oval.

After getting through two full games in the VFL, Jed Anderson could also be nearing an AFL appearance.

Defenders

After being close to returning against Adelaide, Lachlan Hansen will likely be under consideration again with West Coast’s forward power; the Eagles are the third highest scoring team in the competition.

While a debut may not arrive this week, Ed Vickers-Willis has been impressing with his performances in the VFL since returning from injury.
