Melbourne forward Jesse Hogan is reported to have called upon former North champion Wayne Carey to help fast-track his development.
Hogan has been in the spotlight with intense media scrutiny around his form and on-field behaviour.
The Herald Sun reports the Demons’ assistant coach Simon Goodwin arranged for Hogan to meet Carey on Tuesday.
“It is understood Hogan said he was frustrated with his own performance, not his teammates’ efforts or delivery into the forward line.
“It is believed Carey provided some helpful advice about how Hogan can deal with the intense expectations after a sparkling first full season in the AFL last year, winning the Rising Star award.
“Essendon champion Matthew Lloyd criticised Hogan at the weekend, saying his body language was horrific during the loss to Essendon on Saturday.
“Dual premiership forward Carey has defended Hogan in recent days and provided the youngster with some advice about how to deal with the external glare and increased defensive attention on the field.”
