Scott Thompson and Kayne Turner are in line for a return this weekend.

Both were late withdrawals from North Melbourne’s starting side to take on Brisbane on Saturday, but Director of Football Geoff Walsh said he expected the duo to be in the mix for Sunday’s clash with the Dees.

“We’ve got the advantage of an eight day break leading into our match in Hobart, so we’re anticipating both Scott and Kayne to be available for selection provided they both train well at our main session later this week,” Walsh told NMFC.com.au.

“It was a very close call, but we didn’t want to take any risks by playing them at the Gabba.

“Both have pulled up well and will continue to train with the main group for the rest of the week.”

Defender Joel Tippett has also been ruled out for about a month, after he copped a knee to the back in a VFL practice match on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the first round of the VFL will be played this week, giving all fit players a chance to push their case for senior selection.
