He might be out of contract next year, but Brad Scott says Majak Daw will be going nowhere.
The talented forward/ruck was promoted off the rookie list at the start of the season and has only played one AFL game so far, but his future is assured according to the senior coach.
“We’ve invested an enormous amount of time and effort into Majak and he’s worked extremely hard to get to the position he’s in,” Scott told Fox Footy’s On the Couch program.
Host of the show Gerard Healy suggested other clubs would be looking at snaring the 25-year-old.
“They’re going to come charging over the hill for Majak Daw to grab him from North Melbourne,” Healy stated.
But with key forwards Drew Petrie and Jarrad Waite now in their 30s, Scott said the likes of Daw and Mason Wood were very much a part of the Roos’ plans.
“Mason Wood and Majak Daw are critical components of what we’re doing, so they’ll be at North Melbourne next year and beyond.
“Players like Mason Wood and Majak Daw, these guys coming through, we think we’ve developed them really well and it’s exciting for the future of our club.”
Scott scoffed at suggestions the club needed to make immediate changes to an ageing list.
“It’s always a fluid beast. We’re looking at the short, medium and long term all the time.”
