Potential North Melbourne father-son pick Joel Crocker was one of Vic Metro's best players in its under-17s clash with Vic Country last weekend.
The son of 1996 Roos premiership player and current director of coaching Darren, Crocker had 15 disposals and impressed with his marking, taking nine grabs switching between roles in attack and defence.
The 188cm prospect has focused on playing at school level this year, but has spent time with North Melbourne as part of its father-son program ahead of being eligible for the draft next year.
He is one of at least three father-son prospects up for grabs for the club in 2018, alongside Nick Blakey (the son of John) and Bailey Scott (the son of Robert).
However, both of those players are also eligible to join other clubs as priority selections.
Blakely can also join the Brisbane Lions as a father-son pick or Sydney as an academy graduate after living in New South Wales for the required time.
Scott can join Geelong as a father-son as well as North, and is a part of Gold Coast's academy.
Next year's draft is already looking strong for taller players, and another handful of players boosted their stocks in Saturday's clash at Ikon Park.
Ruckmen Thomas Hallebone (Vic Metro) and Riley Bowman (Vic Country) had a good battle, while Vic Country centre half-forward Bailey Schmidt kicked two goals from 15 disposals and will be a player to follow next season.
Key backman Connor Idun, who has shown promising signs for the Geelong Falcons' under-18 side in this year's TAC Cup season, started forward and kicked a goal before playing in defence and providing some dash.
The AFL has made a concerted effort to stage more under-17s games since the ability to trade future picks was introduced in 2015.
Some of the standout players from Victoria's under-17s match will be picked to play in the NAB AFL All Stars game on Grand Final morning at the MCG.
