Majak Daw swapped the footy for the frypan, taking part in a cook-off with Bulldog Jason Johannisen.

Rivals on field, Daw and Johannisen took their battle to a new level in the kitchen on Monday as part of the upcoming Taste of Harmony event – aimed at celebrating cultural diversity through food.

As Daw explained, the workplace initiative encouraged people around Australia to bring their own plate to work in the month of March.

“It’s pretty easy to bring something that’s close from your culture and bring it to work and share it with your colleagues and teammates,” Daw said.

“It’s a good initiative and a great conversation starter, everyone loves eating.”

Daw’s living arrangements with fellow Kangaroos means he’s often responsible for meals.

“I live with Lukey (McDonald), Taylor Garner and Ben Jacobs,” Daw added.

“I happen to be the chef at home. I don’t mind stepping in there and whipping something up for the boys. I love a bit of cooking.”

As for the cook-off with Johannisen, it was Daw’s Pad Thai against the Bulldog’s steak creation.

“The chef helped me in the kitchen so it’s turned out to be pretty good,” Daw said of his own dish.

“The steak was really nice, full of flavours and the potatoes were really good.”

But which one won?

“I reckon mine was better,” Daw joked.

The Roo already has his own dish in mind for when A Taste of Harmony comes to Arden Street.

“I’m going to bring a cuscus salad with some pomegranates, corn, and a bit of zucchini.

“I’ll bring that, I think it’ll be a hit.”
