Coburg v Werribee
Saturday, July 8 – 2pm
Piranha Park, Coburg
Midfielder Ryan Clarke will have the chance to stake his claim for an immediate return to the seniors, as he lines up for Werribee on Saturday.
The Tigers take on Coburg in enemy territory, with Clarke back into the midfield after eight straight games for North.
Sam Wright has another chance to find touch, playing his third match in defence after a long lay-off due to injury.
North’s number 19 racked up 30 disposals last week, but coach Brad Scott said the match committee wouldn’t rush him back to AFL level after so long out.
Fresh from being promoted to the rookie list, Cam Zurhaar will no doubt have a point to prove in attack as he edges closer to a debut, while fellow AFL emergency Braydon Preuss is back from elbow soreness.
All eyes will be on Nick Larkey, who has been in impressive form in recent weeks and now sits fifth on the league’s goal-kicking list.
Werribee has dropped to eighth on the VFL ladder following two losses in a row, but will go in as strong favourites against a Coburg side with just one win to its name.
