North Melbourne is set to unleash its top draft pick this weekend with Jy Simpkin a chance to be cleared to play against Hawthorn.
The former Murray Bushrangers’ forward was taken by North with pick 12 last year but has been held back as he recovers from a broken leg sustained in the early stages of the under 18s competition in 2016.
From Mooroopna in country Victoria, Simpkin has impressed during his limited training and match simulation and has been listed as ‘test’ on the club’s official Anytime Fitness Injury Update.
North could also welcome back a wealth of experienced players in Robbie Tarrant, Scott Thompson, Majak Daw, Lachlan Hansen and Todd Goldstein for the highly anticipated match at Arden Street.
