In The Mix: Round 3
Should Brad Scott and the match committee make changes or stick with the line-up that’s been so close?
All will be revealed on Thursday when NMFC.com.au releases the Kangaroos’ 22 for the clash against the Swans, but until then we look at those in line for a call-up.
Have your say below.
Sam Wright – Knee soreness kept the defender out of Sunday’s match, but he’s out to prove his fitness.
Wright was one of North’s quieter performers in Round 1, so his inclusion isn’t guaranteed.
Majak Daw/Aaron Black – Black and Daw have both been in fine form at VFL level, but coach Brad Scott has hinted they are fighting for the spots currently filled by attacking trio Robbie Tarrant, Lachlan Hansen and Drew Petrie.
Replacing one of those three looks unlikely at this stage, but North might look to stretch a reliable Sydney defence with another tall.
Daniel Currie – The emerging ruckman had a tough battle against Robbie Warnock in the VFL, but the experience against an AFL quality ruckman may prove invaluable.
Todd Goldstein’s good form means he’s likely to have to continue his good form for a few weeks yet to be in with a chance.
Brad McKenzie – The 2011 draftee had a taste of senior football last year, and more opportunities are on the horizon after his job on Collingwood’s Alan Didak in the VFL.
His versatility is a bonus, and his precision skills would come in handy if North continues its short-kicking approach.
Levi Greenwood – The number 24 didn’t find the ball as regularly on the weekend as he did the previous game, but given his AFL experience and a strong, hardened opponent in Sydney, he’s sure to be in the mix for a midfield role.
Will Sierakowski – Spending time on experienced Blue Heath Scotland in the VFL may have been the pre-cursor for an imminent debut, with the 22-year old seemingly one of the next in line following several appearances as emergency. Sierakowski is another whose skills would be perfectly suited to a short-passing style.
Taylor Hine – The former Sun was the match-day emergency against the Cats, a further sign of the high-regard he’s held in by North’s match committee. Given the strong return of Scott McMahon, he’d need another spot to open up to be considered.
Cam Delaney and Luke Delaney – The Delaney brothers held their own against Collingwood in the VFL and were under the pump all day, but may struggle to dislodge a member of North’s current back six.
