NORTH Melbourne's Drew Petrie and Leigh Adams look to have avoided serious injury despite finishing Friday night's 53-point win over Carlton on the bench.
Petrie, who booted seven goals in a superb performance, was subbed from the game at three-quarter time after getting work on his left groin late in the third term.
The 29-year-old played down the problem after the match.
"I just got a bit of crampiness, sort of tightness, through my adductor," he said.
"The coach didn't want to risk it.
"I was happy to go out and try for five minutes to see how I'd go."
Adams appeared to pop his shoulder out when he had his arm twisted behind his back by Blues skipper Chris Judd in the second quarter.
Judd was reported for misconduct and Adams had to leave the field, but he returned before half time.
He then copped a heavy hit late in the match and finished with ice on the shoulder.
Coach Brad Scott was confident Adams was not seriously hurt.
"He attacks the ball with such ferocity that he usually comes off a bit bruised and battered," Scott said.
"They think he'll be OK, but I can't tell you definitively or not."
The Kangaroos have a nine-day break before facing Richmond at the MCG next Sunday, which should help the duo's chances of recovering.
North Melbourne has now won four of its past five games to jump back into the top eight, but both Scott and Petrie said there was still work to do.
"Our players now have enough evidence to know that our best is pretty good, but it's important that they remember why they were able to play that way," Scott said.
"There are still a lot of things we've got to work on, but I think the signs for the future are really good."
Petrie added: "We still haven't played finals for a couple of years, and we're still only just in the eight.
"So it's great to have the belief when we run out on the weekend, but we can't get carried away with our position at the moment."
