It was North’s only chance to shine on football’s biggest stage and the club reveled in the excitement at Etihad generated by a bumper crowd.
46,423 fans turned out to watch the Roos do battle with the Blues and few left disappointed with the home-side winning by a stunning 53-points.
The official crowd was North’s sixth biggest home crowd ever at the stadium, with 53,312 its largest in 2003 against Collingwood.
The Kangaroos played with a reckless abandon, a willingness to take the game on and a determination to run harder than the opposition.
If they continue that run and gun style in the coming years, it will only encourage similar numbers to come and watch them play.
