A confident approach
Brad Scott says North Melbourne will go into the match against Geelong with ‘a level of confidence’.
Geelong is second on the table, and the Kangaroos are tenth, but there’s plenty to prove for both sides.
“We’ve had some really good games against them (the Cats) at Etihad (Stadium) the last two occasions, so we’ve got a level of confidence going in against them.
“… but we’ve also seen in the second half last time we played them just how dominant they can be. We are going to have to be at our best.”
North dominated before the main change when the teams met in Round 2, before giving up a big lead. Scott admits it could be even tougher this time around.
“I don’t think too many sides do that against Geelong, but it counted for nothing at the end because they got over the line against us.
“Geelong will be looking at the game taking out what we do well, and what they did well in the second half to get over us, and we’re looking at in reverse order.
“Both teams have probably changed a little bit in style, so it’s going to be a challenge. I don’t think the game will unfold the game the way it did last time; they play a little bit differently and we’ve tweaked a few things as well."

While many pundits predict North will need to win each of its last five matches to play finals, Scott’s focus is purely on this week and a strong showing against a premiership contender.
“They are in ominous form. They kept Melbourne to 19 inside 50’s and they kept St Kilda to 25, so we’re going to have to make the most of our scoring opportunities, because they are defending really well.
“We’re really fighting to make sure that we can play really good footy against the best teams in the competition. Geelong is no doubt one of those.
“It’s a great opportunity for us. They’re looking to cement their style of footy going into September, so I expect a cracking match.”
