It was a moment where Courteney Munn probably wished she had her phone notifications switched off.
“I was watching the AFLW draft at home on my laptop with my mum,” Munn told North Media.
“And at one point we were sitting there, I was looking at my phone, and all of a sudden I got tagged on Facebook saying that I had just been drafted!
“My laptop had about a minute lag, so I was so confused… but excited, and then thirty seconds later, I see my name pop up on the live stream, and then it all became real.”
Though the anticipation of the draft was stressful, Munn is relieved with the outcome and can’t wait to get started.
“I was nervous waiting to see what would happen, but now I am so excited. I wish we could start tomorrow,” laughed Munn.
“This is absolutely the outcome I’ve been hoping for, and I’m excited to join Ali [Alison Drennan] and Kate [Gillespie-Jones], and have heard of most of the other North players.”
Munn still left pinching herself with her dream becoming a reality.
“I started footy a couple of years ago, and once I started playing I wanted to get drafted. So that’s been my goal for a while now. I’m so excited, and the draft day was an awesome and amazing day.”
