Shaun Higgins says he is keen to stay at North Melbourne for the foreseeable future.

Asked if he wanted to remain at Arden St, if it was his decision, the 31-year-old stated, “Yes. All I can do is turn up and play and continue to improve and hopefully continue to focus on the team getting some wins."

In what was a testing couple of weeks, Higgins was impressed with the leadership shown by the senior group.

“It starts with the senior players through the week and all the senior guys carried themselves well last week. The young guys are great but we need to show them the way.”

The Roos’ youngsters were impressive in the win over the Tigers, with Cam Zuurhar, Luke Davies-Uniacke, Nick Larkey, Jy Simpkin and Tarryn Thomas all firing. And Higgins believes the youngest, Thomas, can be “anything”.

“We got exposed to him for a couple of years and having done match practice with him honestly, he would have started Round 1 a few years ago if he was on our list," Higgins told the Herald Sun.

“You never know how quickly it can translate into performance but the start to the year has been pretty special.”
