Melbourne Uni v Geelong

Melbourne Uni takes on Geelong this Saturday in an elimination final.
“It’s a testament to how hard the girls have worked over the last few weeks to get us to this spot,” senior coach Scott Gowans told North Media.
“We were at the point on the ladder where we had to win to progress, so getting here shows that it really means something to the players.”
The preparation leading up to the big game, vital.
“We’re just trying to keep it as normal as possible,” Gowans explained.
“In my experience with finals footy, the main thing is to keep everything normal. Because once the girls get to the ground the butterflies will start.
“So, it’s just about going through the process, and doing what we know and preparing them well and then getting into it.”
For North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroo, Kate Gillespie-Jones, this game is a big deal for another reason – it will be her 50th VFLW game.
Her impact can’t be underestimated.
“Among a couple others, Kate has been the standout this season,” Gowans said.
“She brings an infectious energy, but is so professional in the way that she prepares.
“She sets the example and the VFLW girls tend to follow. She’s really competitive and loves to win but also loves to preform, so she just brings in a really good energy to the group.”
