Five months of hard work will be put into action on Sunday, as North Melbourne takes on Fremantle in Round 1 of the 2019 season.
It’s been a long time coming, but excitement looms around Arden Street.
There’s plenty of potential storylines too; who of the Roos’ four recruits from other clubs, Jared Polec, Aaron Hall, Dom Tyson and Jasper Pittard will debut? Will Bailey Scott, Tarryn Thomas or even Curtis Taylor take to an AFL field for the first time? How does North tackle the Dockers’ array of talls in attack with Scott Thompson out through suspension?
Fans will have the chance to wish the players luck at open training on Saturday, with the 22 to take on Fremantle hitting the track from 11.30am.
As the AFL squad departs for Perth, there will also be a chance to impress for those in the VFL. Arden Street will play host to a practice match between North and Port Melbourne on Saturday afternoon, from 4pm.
It promises to be an exciting week!
