Jabriil Mohamed couldn’t see himself getting through high school maths.

“I was sure that I was going to fail,” he told North Media.

“There was literally no hope. I thought that if I got a C, I would be lucky."

Instead of giving in, the Year 10 student vowed to put in some extra time and sought help from The Huddle's Study Support program and it paid dividends, with a result that blew him, and his family away.

"I got an A! And that’s all thanks to The Huddle," he revealed.

"At first I was reluctant to go. But then after a little bit I started seeing improvement in my grades, and it was easy to see that it was because of the help I was getting at study support."

Mohamed learned about Study Support through his mum and with a big family at home, he was able to find a quiet space to expand his learning.

“When I come to the Huddle, I can put all my distractions away and just study and do my work,” he said.

“It’s made finishing everything on time way easier. And I can use their printers and stuff which I don’t have at home.”

The impact The Huddle has had on Mohamad can't be underestimated.

“It has helped me a lot, it’s been a really good program, I can’t even explain how much it has helped me,” he said.

“I had a really hard time with maths, but I’ve worked with a couple of the tutors and they’re all great and really professional. You can tell that they really want to help you.”

With his confidence high, Mohamed is now aiming to go to university and become a lawyer.

“I want to help people, that’s my main goal,” Mohamed added.

“There’s so much injustice in the world, and so much hypocrisy coming from our leaders, that I want to do something that will have a positive impact.”

Study Support runs Monday-Thursday 4-7pm at Arden Street, as well as various days across Wyndham.
