Scott Thompson is confident of playing against Geelong, despite suffering an abductor injury against Carlton.
The defender was named in the Roos’ initial squad of 26, but will have to prove his fitness before Sunday.
“It’s (the body) feeling good,” Thompson told North Media.
“I did a bit of running yesterday and that was very positive. I’ll do a bit more running tomorrow and see how it goes, but I’m a big chance.”
Thompson pulled up sore late in the second term against the Blues, but with the Roos in a comfortable position, was able to sit out the second half.
“I was trying to chase someone at max speed and pulled up a bit sore. I headed off after that but stayed warm and could have come back on, as it wasn’t too bad,” he said.
“It was good that we could keep that option open, but not coming back on gave me a better chance to play this week.”
Assuming the Roos’ number 16 lines up, he’ll be in for a tough task come game day.
“Geelong are obviously top of the ladder, so we will see we’re at,” Thompson said.
“Tom (Hawkins) is a great player, and we always have great battles against him.
“But it’s a team game, and their forward line has been going really well, so we will have our work cut out for us.
“It was a good game against Carlton, and we did a lot of things better than we have been. But we still have more to improve on, and we want to keep winning."
