And in 2019, there are plenty of Roos’ stars in the mix for the top honours.
Could Shaun Higgins become just the third player in the club’s history to record a three-peat? Will Ben Cunnington take home a second medal and repeat his effort from 2014? Or is Ben Brown in line for his first Syd Barker after a third straight season with more than 60 goals?
The likes of Todd Goldstein, Jy Simpkin, Jack Ziebell and Trent Dumont all enjoyed consistent years through the midfield, Shaun Atley was terrific in multiple positions, while the defenders were as solid as ever, led by Robbie Tarrant, alongside Scott Thompson.
Perhaps one of the new recruits, Jared Polec or Jasper Pittard, could steal the show? Both enjoyed fresh starts at a new club and only got better as the season went on.
