Defender Scott Thompson is pleased with the AFL’s stance on the match deciding free kick that went against him in Brisbane on Saturday night.
“We just got off the plane and saw that the AFL have said it was the wrong decision,” Thompson told the media at Melbourne Airport.
“I don’t feel robbed ... I’m just glad the AFL have come out and said it was the wrong decision so I don’t have to change the way I play.”
The free kick awarded to Oscar McInerney in the dying moments went a long way to deciding the game, and may have a strong impact on the Roos’ finals chances.
“It was obviously a big moment in the game and its disappointing that happened and we lost the game, but we have to move on now.
“Mistakes happen, everyone makes mistakes.
“It was a big game for us, so it was disappointing to lose it.
“It hurts with it being so close, but we’ll move on and look forward to West Coast."
