North Melbourne’s Good Friday SuperClash ambassador Imogen Mulgrew will present the Premiership Cup to captain Emma Kearney and senior coach Darren Crocker if the Kangaroos are victorious in Saturday’s 2024 NAB AFLW Grand Final.
Diagnosed with leukemia at the age of eight, Kangaroos fan Imogen recently completed her two-and-a-half-year treatment plan at the Royal Children’s Hospital.
The now 11-year-old has been a regular face at training and games over the past 12 months, including being the junior mascot at last year’s AFLW Grand Final and tossing the coin at the 2024 Good Friday SuperClash.
Several Kangaroos players, including Bella Eddey and Emma King, were also at the hospital earlier this month to cheer Imogen on as she got to ‘ring the bell’ to celebrate the end of her treatment.
“Imogen’s resilience, spirit and easy-go-lucky demeanour struck a chord with our players, our football department, our staff and all footy fans far and wide this past year,” North Melbourne CEO Jen Watt said.
“Not only has Imogen’s impact been profound, she represents everything our team stands for and we couldn’t think of a more perfect person for this role.”
This will be Imogen’s last official duty as Good Friday SuperClash ambassador before handing over to a new ambassador for the club’s annual marquee match in 2025, which raises money for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
The two teams will face off under the lights at IKON Park, with the first bounce at 7.45pm AEDT.
It will be the first AFLW Grand Final played at night, as the Kangaroos chase their maiden AFLW premiership and the club’s first piece of silverware since 1999.
