North Melbourne has officially welcomed Luke Parker and Jacob Konstanty to Arden St after agreeing to a trade with Sydney on Wednesday.

The Roos receive Parker and Konstanty in exchange for 2024 Telstra AFL Draft Selection No.44.

Parker has played 293 games since being drafted by the Swans with pick No.40 in 2010 and established himself among the competition’s best midfielders and big-game players during his time in the red and white.

The 31-year-old became a three-time best and fairest winner and featured in a remarkable 26 finals, including the Swans’ 2012 premiership win.

A career-best 2016 season saw him receive All-Australian honours, finish runner-up in the Brownlow Medal, claim his first of five Brett Kirk Medals as best on ground in the Sydney Derby, and be recognised by his peers as the competition’s Most Courageous Player for the second year running.

He was also co-captain of the Swans from 2019 – 2023 after being appointed to the leadership group in 2015 at only 22 years old.

Konstanty joined the Swans as a first-round draft selection in 2022, taken at pick No.20.

A small forward known for his defensive pressure and aggressive game-style, the 19-year-old has played 23 games for the Swans VFL side across his first two seasons.

North Melbourne’s head of football talent Brady Rawlings said the club is looking forward to what two players at very different stages of their careers can bring.

“We were keen to add some more experience to our young list at the trade table, and Luke certainly has one of the best football resumes of those still in the game,” Rawlings said.

“He’s been an incredibly reliable player and leader for Sydney over a number of years and will offer a wealth of knowledge from his experience at a consistent, finals-hardened club like the Swans. We look forward to the impact Luke can have both on and off the field.

“And Jacob’s career is only just beginning. His playing style and ability to apply pressure in the forward line has really stood out to us. We see potential in his football ability and look forward to him getting to work.”
