North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos draftee Georgia Stubs has signed a one-year contract extension, tying her to the club until at least the end of 2025.

The 18-year-old was taken by the Kangaroos from the Eastern Ranges with their second selection and the 30th overall in last December’s AFLW Draft.

The contract extension represents a recognition of Stubs’ promise after the defender suffered a season-ending ankle injury during the Kangaroos’ match simulation against St Kilda on August 10.

"For Georgia’s first season to end the way it did was incredibly unfortunate, and we wanted to give her some comfort throughout her recovery with this new deal," North Melbourne AFLW list manager Flynn Loft said.

"Georgia impressed with her speed on the outside and competitiveness at the contest during her draft year, and she had made great progress over the pre-season both on and off the field before she got injured."
