The North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos will head up to Springfield, Queensland for their season opener against the reigning premiers, Brisbane.

The Lions prevailed when the sides met on Grand Final day last season, and the Roos are determined to knock them off as they look to begin their 2024 campaign on the highest of highs.

The opposition

The Lions will be looking to defend the premiership this year and their Grand Final-winning side is almost fully intact, despite Phoebe Monahan and Mikayla Pauga departing in the off-season.

They hosted Richmond in a pre-season hitout two weeks ago and showcased their elite endurance as they overran the Tigers to claim a two-point win.

Milestone watch

Tasmanian duo Nicole Bresnehan and Mia King are set to notch their 50th League appearance on Sunday.

Defender Bresnehan is an inaugural Roo, debuting in the opening round of the 2019 season, while King arrived on the scene in Round 4, 2020.

Skipper Emma Kearney and tall forward Emma King will bring up their 75-game milestones, with Emma King and Jasmine Garner also set to achieve 75 games as teammates.
