Kangaroos fans will get their first look at the club's newest arrivals in action as the AFLW pre-season ramps up this weekend.

Draftees Ella Slocombe and Georgia Stubs are among 23 players named in the Roos' squad to take part in match sim training against St Kilda at RSEA Park in Moorabbin on Saturday.

Entry is free for the 12pm AEST hitout. 

An exciting midfielder-forward, Slocombe arrived at Arden St as pick No.26 in December's AFLW Draft. Explosive midfielder Stubs was selected four picks later at No.30.

While not a new arrival, youngster Zoe Savarirayan will be among the players also looking to make an early impression after a pre-season ACL injury kept her on the sidelines last year. 

Emma Kearney will lead out the Roos, having been voted captain by her teammates for the seventh consecutive season, alongside vice-captain and four-time club champion Jasmine Garner.

Trade arrival Libby Birch is among a handful of senior Kangaroos who won't take part in Saturday's match sim, as she continues her recovery from an MCL injury.

Jenna Bruton remains sidelined as she works her way back to full fitness after suffering a ruptured Achilles in the opening quarter of December's AFLW Grand Final loss to Brisbane, while Lulu Pullar, Nicole Bresnehan and Eliza Shannon will also miss. 

Saturday's format, number of players, game length and number of breaks will be agreed upon by the competing teams.

The Roos will continue preparations for their 2024 NAB AFLW Season with a practice match against Greater Western Sydney in Blacktown on Saturday, August 17.

Their campaign for a first AFLW premiership begins with a mouthwatering Grand Final rematch against Brisbane in Ipswich, Queensland on Sunday, September 1.
