Jaidyn Stephenson put himself in contention for an AFL return with a standout performance for North Melbourne's reserves side on Saturday afternoon.

Stephenson, who last featured at AFL level against his old side Collingwood in Round 14, was prolific in the loss to Box Hill at Arden St Oval.

Playing off half-back, he racked up 30 touches in challenging conditions, including 12 intercept possessions, and 11 marks.

Young forward Blake Drury also made his case for a recall to the senior side, kicking three of the Roos' five goals in the wet-weather tussle against the Hawks.

The best of Drury's haul was a beautiful crumbing goal from 40m in the fourth quarter. 

Will Phillips ensured he will be front of mind should coach Alastair Clarkson decide to deploy a tagger against the Cats in Hobart on Saturday, laying seven tackles against Box Hill. 

Phillips, who has been a consistent performer at VFL level since being dropped after the Kangaroos' win over Gold Coast in Round 17, won seven clearances among his 22 disposals.

Hugh Greenwood will also be in the mix when the selection committee meets on Thursday. He stood tall in the engine room against the Hawks, earning a game-high 11 clearances to go with his 22 disposals and nine tackles.

First-year player Zane Duursma could be considered after he backed up his three-goal outing against the Swans' reserves with a goal from seven disposals, while fellow young forward Cooper Harvey kicked one from 17 touches.

Also potentially in line for selection this week are Charlie Lazzaro (20 disposals against the Hawks) and Finnbar Maley (16 disposals, six tackles).
