(l-r): Brent, Hudson and Cooper Harvey

A host of potential future Roos hit the track on Thursday as North Melbourne held its annual Father-Son Day.

Eleven former players returned to Arden St with their sons, who were put through their paces on the turf before joining their famous fathers for a look around the club.

Among the dads was 300-gamer Drew Petrie, whose footy-mad son Jack is almost 14.

"He's a left footer," Petrie said. "Don't know where he gets that from. He's grown quite a lot. I think he might have my height by the time he hits 18."

Tough-as-nails defender Michael Firrito visited with sons Lenny, 10, and Max, seven.

"Lenny's just started playing under-11s and he's a lot taller than I was at the same age," Firrito said.

"They were certainly excited this morning to spring out of bed and, and come down.

While the sons enjoyed hitting the track, for the fathers the visit was also an opportunity to catch up with old mates around the club.

"It feels like home still," Petrie said.

"Walking through the corridors and seeing old faces. It's a really warm feeling, and it's a great opportunity to bring my son down today as well.

"Memories of what I was able to do here at the footy club are history. The memories that the kids create through their sport is what I love watching now.

Firrito said he and his sons kept a close eye on the current Kangaroos team.

"It's a really exciting crop of young players," Firrito said.

"Sheezel and Wardlaw, Tom Powell. It's exciting times ahead I'm sure. Hopefully they can all stick together and have a bit of success."
