North announces new coach
The North Melbourne Football Club is delighted to announce Brad Scott as senior coach for 2010 and beyond.
The 33 year old was selected after a thorough process involving club CEO Eugene Arocca, Chief of Football Donald McDonald and directors Ron Joseph and Trevor O’Hoy.
“We wanted a man who was young, smart, dynamic and ruthless, a man who would grow with our young list and a man who would lead this club to victory,” North Chairman James Brayshaw said.
“He represents everything this club stands for in 2009. He’s young, he’s smart, he’s hungry, he’s talented and he’s a leader of men.”
The former development coach and current mid-field coach at Collingwood won two premierships with the Brisbane Lions in 2001 and 2002 before his retirement in 2006.
“I’m excited, it’s a great opportunity and a very good fit for me and the club,” Scott said from Arden Street this afternoon.
“I think I’ve done a very good apprenticeship under some great coaches.
“North are an exciting club and have a lot of potential, as coach I want to create a learning environment where people can grow and improve.”
Scott played 168 games during his nine-season career and was renowned for being one of the fiercest players in the league.
Caretaker coach Darren Crocker will remain in charge until the end of the season.
