Shaun Atley says Brad Scott played a huge role in his development as a footballer and individual.
“I came in as an 18-year-old not knowing anything and he’s been like a second father to me. He’s been massive,” Atley told North Media after the win over the Bulldogs.
Scott told the North players he’d be departing the club ahead of Saturday’s game, making for an emotional afternoon.
“Everything’s still pretty raw,” Atley said.
“Obviously for everyone involved it was a bit of a shock. For the boys to pull out the win today with everything that’s happened it’s just massive and it’s pretty emotional down here.
“’Scotty’ was awesome. Early on he pulled us in and obviously just said what was happening.
“As he does he puts the focus on the team and what we had to do today. He got us to focus our attention to win this game.
“I’m glad the boys did the job today.”
