North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos duo Mia King and Alice O'Loughlin have been named in the in the AFL Players' Association 2023 AFLW 22Under22 squad of 44.

The 22Under22 team is a fan-voted concept that recognises 22 standout players aged 22 and under at the conclusion of the season (including finals and Grand Final day).

King, 22, and O'Loughlin, 21, have both impressed at Arden Street this season and continue to play pivotal roles in a North Melbourne line-up right in the mix for a maiden premiership.

King is averaging 20.9 disposals per game and finished the home and away season equal fifth in the competition for tackles (87) despite missing Round 10, while O'Loughlin has booted five goals from 10 appearances including a personal best three-goal haul against Port Adelaide.

For a player to be eligible for the squad of 44, they are required to play 50 per cent of the home and away season, equating to five matches.  

Chair of Selectors, Melissa Hickey, and an internal selection panel at the AFL Players’ Association selects a squad of 44 players, with support from Champion Data. 

Due to the number of quality candidates, the squad has been increased from 40 to 44.

Fans have the opportunity to decide the final 22 by voting on the 22Under22 platform.

Voting is open for seven days from November 9 to November 15. The final team will be announced on November 22nd via the AFL Players’ Association’s social media channels.
