North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos defender Nicole Bresnehan is continuing to progress well post-surgery, says rehab coordinator and strength and conditioning coach Hugh Mason.

The co-vice captain has been out of action since suffering a left ankle syndesmosis injury against the Lions in Round 4, but is on track to make a return for the opening week of finals should the Roos remain in the top eight over the next three weeks.

''Flash' (Bresnehan) tolerated three on-ground running sessions last week after her initial run on the AlterG treadmill," Mason said.

"She has progressed to kicking on both legs, and has started some change of direction."

Youngster Cassidy Mailer is also "progressing nicely" with her thigh issue and will test during training later in the week as she looks to become available for selection.

"She integrated back into training last week with managed loads, and will continue to build on this in the coming week," he said.

Defender Jasmine Ferguson was involved in a collision in the last quarter of North Melbourne's Round 7 match against Yartapuulti (Port Adelaide) on Sunday.

The No.20 was assessed by the club's medical team and showed no signs or symptoms of concussion, before undergoing another test post-game which she cleared with no abnormalities, so she will be available for selection.
