For the second straight season, North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos star midfielder Jasmine Garner has kicked off the campaign with 10 AFL Coaches' Association AFLW Champion Player of the Year Award votes.
Garner polled 76 votes to claim the award last season, finishing nine ahead of ahead of Richmond's Monique Conti and Geelong's Georgie Prespakis.
It didn't take long for the 29-year-old to stamp her name on the Kangaroos' season-opener against St Kilda, with a goal from 45 metres just 20 seconds into the match.
Along with her one major, she finished with 29 possessions (16 contested), and outright game-highs in clearances (11), metres gained (476), inside 50s (eight), and score involvements (seven).
Also capping off the season-opener with 29 touches was Ash Riddell who earned eight votes, and, alongside Garner, was pivotal in helping to set up the 40-point win early.
Young onballer Mia King earned four votes after notching 21 disposals, seven tackles, and five clearances.
Jasmine Ferguson's efforts on last season's leading goalkicker in Jesse Wardlaw didn't go unnoticed by North Melbourne coach Darren Crocker and St Kilda coach Nick Dal Santo.
The key defender held the former Brisbane forward goalless, and racked up six intercept possessions from 10 disposals on her way to three votes.
Experienced tall Emma King (one goal, two contested marks) also earned three votes, while captain Emma Kearney polled two after chalking up 20 touches.
