North Melbourne spearhead Nick Larkey has built a powerful case for a place in the All-Australian team, coach Alastair Clarkson believes.
The 25-year-old booted six goals against Richmond on Saturday to take his season tally to 62, behind only Carlton's Charlie Curnow (75) and Adelaide's Taylor Walker (67).
His feat is even more impressive for the fact the Roos average the second-fewest forward entries with 46.1 a game, compared to the Blues' 53.2 (ninth) and the Crows' 54.1 (fifth).
"He's been terrific for us," Clarkson told reporters on Thursday.
"In a side that hasn't had too many inside 50s compared to opposition clubs, (it's been impressive) for him to score as potently as he has.
"We also know where we're at … we want him to continue to play really, really good footy, but we need more avenues to goal than Nick Larkey."

BUY NOWThe Kangaroos have gone without Cam Zurhaar (20 goals this season) since Round 18, while Jaidyn Stephenson (26) was ruled out after Round 22.
A long-term move forward looms for Rising Star prospect Harry Sheezel, who has spent his first season at half-back and broken the V/AFL record for disposals in a season from a first-year player, but he has occasionally been deployed inside 50 to great effect.
The sky is similarly the limit for second-year forward Paul Curtis, who has kicked 15.14 and notched 17 assists in 20 appearances.
Clarkson says the pieces of the puzzle may not all be on the current list, however.
"You look at a team like Brisbane that's so potent forward of the ball," he cited.
"They have three guys that are capable of kicking 40, 50, 60 goals and another five or six capable of kicking 20 goals.
"That's why they're going to go deep into September … (so) we have to get personnel into our footy club that can help Nick Larkey out."

WHO MAKES IT?West Coast's shock victory over the Western Bulldogs on Sunday relegated the Roos to last place with one game to play.
If the Kangaroos can't get over Gold Coast in the Tasmanian capital on Saturday, they'll be in the box seat for the No.1 draft pick, however Clarkson reinforced how driven he and his players are to finish the season with a much-needed victory.
"(The players are) competitive beasts, and so am I … we want to win, and we'll be putting the best team out there that we can," Clarkson emphasised.
"I know there's a nice prize out there, but go and tell that to West Coast last week … it didn't bother them, and I reckon there's great merit in that.
"We're not going to be laying down on the weekend."
