He’s yet to make his AFL debut but that hasn’t stopped North supporters from rallying behind new draftee, Luke McDonald.

The 18-year-old joins only a handful of senior players including Nick Dal Santo and Jack Ziebell to have sold out of Player Sponsorships.

The club allows supporters to take out special sponsorship packages giving them greater access to individual players and McDonald admits he was surprised by the level of support he has received.

“I am really happy that they are already getting behind me and the team. It makes the transition to AFL a lot easier knowing that I have that level of support,” he told NMFC.com.au.

The youngster expressed the significance of having support from fans not only when the team is winning but more importantly, when times are tough.

“It’s great to see the members getting behind us already but for me it is really important that they continue to support us when we aren’t playing so good on the field.”

McDonald is a strong chance to debut in Round 1 and is counting down the days until the season begins.

“I'm really excited and hopefully I’ll see a few supporters with number 21 on their jumpers,” he joked.

Player Sponsors receive several exclusive inner sanctum experiences with their chosen player including meet and greets, barbecues and a special training session.

There are still many players available including Andrew Swallow, Brent Harvey, Daniel Currie and Levi Greenwood.
