Werribee proved to be too strong for North Melbourne's VFL side on Sunday afternoon by claiming a 57-point win at Arden Street Oval.
In blustery conditions, the Kangaroos made a rapid start by kicking the first three goals of the game in the opening seven minutes, but it was the Tigers who gained firm control following the quarter-time change.
A seven-goal-to-none second term for the visitors saw them catapult into the lead and never look back, surging to a 16.14 (110) to 7.11 (53) victory.
"It was a disappointing day for the boys and for all of us involved," VFL coach Tom Lynch told NMFC Media.
"We started really well which was a real positive for us. We were able to generate 15 inside 50s in the first quarter and we just didn't make the most of some of those opportunities.
"When they went inside 50 they scored on just about every occasion so we weren't able to defend our back-half strong enough, and all credit to Werribee, they're a strong and well-balanced team and they ran away with it.
"The last quarter was a tale of two halves, the first half was really positive and we thought for a minute we were bridging the gap but we completely fell away and they got a hold of us in the end."

Two well-taken shots at the big sticks from Tyler Sellers (three goals, 10 disposals) and a long-range effort from Jack Ellwood had the Roos rolling early, and with Werribee's wastefulness in front of goal, it was Lynch's side that took a 17-point lead into quarter-time.
It was the Tigers who came out of the first change switched on though, putting their first two goals of the match on the board in quick succession.
Louis Butler (23 disposals, four rebound 50s) started strongly with plenty of possession and drive off half-back, but the Tigers kept coming and eventually hit the lead 13 minutes into the second quarter through Nick Hayes.
Just as the Roos began to gather some momentum forward of centre, an off-the-ball free kick gave Werribee some reprieve, which it promptly turned into their fourth straight major.
Despite Werribee's control of possession, it was North Melbourne that had notched the majority of inside 50s, with the tally reading 27-20 going into half-time.

SYNC NOWFollowing the second quarter's trend, it became eight answered goals for the visitors at the beginning of the third term when Matthew Hanson slotted a tough set shot to put his team up by 32 points.
Going deep into the third quarter, the Roos managed to end their goalless drought when young tall Jacob Edwards converted from close range.
The 20-year-old elevated on the forward-50 arc and reined in an impressive, contested mark before winning a 50-metre penalty for high contact which brought him to the goal square.
An improved 15 minute effort from North Melbourne to kick off the final term saw Sam Lowson, Cooper Harvey and Sellers all chip in with majors, with Sellers' third coming from a superbly sharked stoppage inside 50.

However, Werribee's class rose again as it capped off its substantial win with the last five goals of the game.
Youngster Charlie Lazzaro battled hard in midfield and gathered a team-high 25 touches and six inside 50s, while veteran Ben Cunnington was close to his combative best with 23 disposals and nine clearances.
Cooper Keogh also stood out as North Melbourne's main ruck, winning 34 hitouts and 17 disposals.
Emerging midfielder Tom Powell was limited to three quarters in his return from a knee/ITB issue, but looked dangerous when breaking out from contest.
"It was really important to have him back in the fold of playing games," Lynch said.
"He contributed when he was out there which was pleasing for him and for us ... he seems to have pulled up pretty well so hopefully he progresses into a full game next week."
