Trent Dumont braved Melbourne’s autumn humidity for a good cause on Wednesday, wearing a North Melbourne-branded onesie all for the ‘Kick for the Kids - Good Friday Appeal’ game.
The hard-working inside midfielder, known for his tenacity on the field, showed his softer side off it, undertaking a series of drills with students at Holy Rosary Primary School in Kensington.
Flanked by Essendon’s Cale Hooker, the pair donned their pyjamas to help promote and raise awareness for PJ Day, with all funds raised going to The Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
Dumont underlined the importance of using the Good Friday game to support an amazing cause.
“It’s been a big part of our club, we really pushed for this for a long time,” he said.
“The day is about more than footy, creating a platform for those who are in a position to donate to do so. It’s something we’re passionate about and are strong advocates for.
“Footy is a big part of our lives, but initiatives like this go far beyond sport.”
The spotlight will be on the Roos for the third consecutive year, facing Essendon on Good Friday.
“We had a really good game against them (the Bombers). It’ll be great to see a good turnout and for our fans to show their support for the cause,” Dumont said.
Schools across the state are encouraged to host PJ Days, with gold coin donations tallied and counted towards the Appeal.
