Todd Goldstein says speculation about a move from Arden Street is way off the mark.
“I’ve never had that conversation with my manager and I can’t see that happening any time soon,” he told AFL Tonight on Fox Sports News.
“Definitely at this stage I’m planning on staying at North Melbourne.
“I was definitely surprised the week after I heard, one, the club were looking to trade me off, and two, that I’d actually been looking for one [a trade].
“On both aspects, that’s news to me, and as far as I’m aware nothing’s going on there.”
Goldstein said he was looking forward to developing the Roos’ emerging youngsters.
“I think we’ve got a lot of young guys who can really step up now,” he said.
“The decisions that were made on those four players [Harvey, Petrie, Firrito, Dal Santo] were not taken lightly, and I think we can all understand why they were made.
“We have great faith in the drafting we’ve done in the last couple of years.
“I think we should still be able to contend.”
After experiencing knee soreness through the middle part of the season, Goldstein is looking forward to an injury-free run.
“I didn’t require any surgery [after the season] which was nice and all the advice I was given was I just needed to rest and really just do a lot of bike and swimming,” he added.
“I’m feeling really good, ready to go and into training already, so it starts again for round one.”
