North Melbourne will seek answers from the AFL and GMHBA Stadium after a collision with the boundary-line LED signage left captain Jack Ziebell "sliced open".
Midway through the third quarter, Ziebell and Geelong defender Jake Kolodjashnij contested a loose ball before it went over the boundary line, and the Kangaroo crashed into the fence.
Ziebell was forced from the field under the blood rule and remained off for almost 10 minutes.
The issue of player safety and stadium fences was raised earlier in the season when Geelong's Mark Blicavs and Zach Tuohy required stitches in round three after colliding with the signage at Optus Stadium.
Scott was clearly unimpressed.
"We'd get fined if we did something incompetent," Scott said.
"The AFL won't fine themselves, I'm sure. They certainly won't give us any money back."
Asked whether he would raise the issue with the AFL or the AFL Players' Association, Scott indicated others at North would.
"I don't think I'll have to personally. I think the powers that be will do that," Scott said.
The AFL is expected to respond to the incident after receiving a ground report from GMHBA Stadium.
Ziebell, who Scott said was "frustrated" by the incident, told ABC Radio after the game no major damage was sustained.
"I actually went into the fence, unfortunately, and it sliced me open quite nice, to tell you the truth," Ziebell said.
"I thought they fixed that problem but I had to spend about eight or 10 minutes off the ground as well. So, not ideal but it shouldn't be too bad, I don't think."
It's not the first time such an incident has happened this year. Geelong pair Mark Blicavs and Zach Tuohy suffered cuts after facing West Coast at Optus Stadium earlier this year, with Blicavs requiring 14 stitches.
North impressed and mounted a comeback in the final term, closing the margin to 10 points, before Geelong settled and ran away with the match.
"They got their tails up and got going and we tired. We looked tired in the last quarter I thought, the second half of the last quarter after really probably dominating the first five or so minutes of that last quarter," Scott said.
Scott was relieved to have a week off, with his side 7-5 before facing the Western Bulldogs in round 14.
