Tasmanian partnerships at a glance

Spirit of Tasmania kicked off the year with an impressive match day in Round 4 against Carlton. Spirit continued to strengthen its support of the AFL and the local community by launching the Spirit Award and assisting the club to foster AFL & AFLW talent in Tasmania.

The City of Hobart continued its long-term support of North helping with the state-wide roll out of the pre-season Community Camp and Next Generation in Schools programs, as well as supporting the development of GOAL! in Tasmania.

Southern Cross Austereo enjoyed its fifth year as a partner of the club, with Southern Cross Television, Triple M and North holding two fantastic B2B functions and a very successful fundraising campaign for Give Me 5 for Kids in Round 9.

The Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel provides players and staff the best accommodation and service when we travel to Hobart. With individual, fully serviced, award winning apartments, the team is more than well looked after.

The Mercury is the voice of Hobart and provides vital advertising and promotional support for our match days and associated activations.  As a highlight, Ben Brown was featured via an innovative life size lift out poster in the lead up to the Round 19 clash against West Coast.

In the last Tasmanian home game for the season, the Roos pushed to keep their finals hopes alive with an upset win over West Coast.

Despite doubling the Eagles’ inside 50s – 36 to 16 – in the first half, the Roos only managed a three-point lead at half-time. It was the second half that saw the Kangaroos run away with it, as they booted four straight goals to head into the final term.

Ben Cunnington was arguably the best on ground with a game-high 39 touches and a crucial major midway through the third term while Paul Ahern was also brilliant gathering 37 touches and 12 clearances. Jack Ziebell, Mason Wood and Shaun Higgins (in his 200th game) kicked two goals each.
