Michael Firrito has copped a $2,500 fine for striking the Swans' Lance Franklin.

The North defender was cited for contact on Franklin during the second quarter of Saturday night's match, but can accept a $1,500 fine with an early plea.

The incident was classified as careless and low impact contact to the head. 

The Match Review Panel's findings were as follows: 
Michael Firrito, North Melbourne, has been charged with charged with striking Lance Franklin, Sydney Swans, during the second quarter of the Round 11 match between North Melbourne and the Sydney Swans, played at Etihad Arena on Saturday June 15, 2015.

In summary, he can accept a $1500 sanction with an early plea.

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Sydney Swans Football Club, it was the view of the panel the incident should be classified as careless conduct with low impact to the head. This is a second offence for the player under the rules and was classified as a $2500 sanction. The player has no applicable bad record. An early plea can reduce the penalty to a $1500 sanction.
