North Melbourne has locked in small forward Phoenix Spicer as the tactical substitute for Saturday afternoon's clash with Port Adelaide at Blundstone Arena.

Spicer, 21, will play his first game of the year following some impressive form at VFL level, including a goal from 14 disposals in the 66-point win over Sandringham last week.
