In the Mix: Round 19
Have your say on the potential changes for the clash against the Cats.
Nevertheless, Andrew Swallow is a big out for the clash with the Cats, with one of Levi Greenwood, Ben Jacobs, Jordan Gysberts or Liam Anthony his likely replacement. But will Scott and match committee opt for more changes against one of the premiership favourites?
Tough conditions for the VFL ‘derby’ between North Ballarat and Werribee made the form of those pushing up a little harder to read, but there’s still several players in the mix.
Have your say on the potential changes below.
Levi Greenwood, Ben Jacobs, Jordan Gysberts, Liam Anthony
The four midfielders look to be fighting for the one spot with Andrew Swallow out injured.
NMFC.com.au highlighted the potential replacements earlier in the week.
Greenwood's last game: 20 possessions
Jacobs' last game: 23 possessions
Gysberts' last game: 19 possessions
Anthony's last game: 30 possessions
Luke Delaney
Development coach Josh Drummond has labelled Delaney just as deserving as his brother Cam of a senior call-up, but ultimately the defenders in the 22 did the job last week.
Should his opportunity present, he will be ready to perform.
Last game: 12 possessions, 5 marks, 7 one percenters|
Sam Wright
As the match-day emergency against the Demons, Wright can’t be far off a recall.
The youngster hasn’t found his best form this season, but would jump at the opportunity to prove himself.
Last game: Match-day emergency
Taylor Garner
Garner’s possessions were up on recent weeks and he drew particular praise from Drummond for his intensity against Werribee.
The 18-year-old has been around the mark on several occasions this season, and this week will be no exception.
Last game: 17 possessions, 1 goal
Majak Daw and Daniel Currie
While their Kangaroos’ team-mate Ben Mabon took the points in the ruck duel on Saturday, both Daw and Currie have been mentioned by Scott as players pushing for a recall recently.
On form, Daw looks the more likely inclusion, but either could be handy with an aim to stretch the Cats’ depleted ruck stocks.
Daw’s last game: 16 possessions, 17 hit-outs, 1 goal
Currie’s last game: 11 possessions, 22 hit-outs
Scott McMahon
Uncharacteristically quiet for Werribee, McMahon rarely has two bad games in a row.
While another week at VFL level could be on the cards to push his case, the number 42 is a seasoned campaigner and more than capable of a role on a tall or small.
Last game: 10 possessions
Kieran Harper
While he ‘drifted out of the game’ against North Ballarat according to development coach John Lamont, Harper showed glimpses of his undoubted talent in the first half.
If he can find the consistency across four quarters, his chance could come before the season is out.
Last game: 12 possessions
Michael Firrito
Experience can prove vital against quality sides, and Firrito boasts plenty of good performances in big games throughout his career.
Having been omitted a fortnight ago, he’ll be eager to win back his spot.
