Brent Harvey’s status as one of the AFL’s best players in the past 20 years is undoubted, but if you ever needed proof of his impact on the field, just look at the statistics.

Champion Data’s Glenn Luff has revealed Harvey is statistically the best user of the football in the AFL over the past two seasons.

The kick-rating system, based on how many times the average AFL player disposes of the ball accurately in different areas of the field sees the North champion at the top of the pack, and by a significant margin.

“He hits the target 10 per cent more often than the AFL average,” Luff said on SEN.

“He goes for a lot of hard kicks. His kicking inside 50… you either want to generate a mark or you want to get a goal; 44 per cent of the time that happens with Boomer Harvey. The next best is 37 per cent.”

The numbers are remarkable, particularly considering he’s going into his 19th season on North’s list.

They show no signs of diminishing either; against the Dockers alone he boasted 20 score involvements, despite a tight tag from Ryan Crowley.

It seems there’s no stopping the 35-year-old.
