Brad Scott has revealed why he called the players in for a quick team meeting before the song on Sunday.
“There was probably two things in that,” Scott explained on Fox Footy’s AFL 360.
“First thing was to get the players in, just to make sure that our reaction and response showed that we were pleased with the outcome of the game but we were far from satisfied with where we sit at the moment.
“And logistically, the other part of it was once the players sing the song they are open to the media. So I don’t get a chance to direct the message and direct the response. That was about 10 seconds in there and I thought the players responded well.”
Scott said North still had plenty of work to do to turn its season around, and had be aware of its current plight.
“No (I didn’t want celebration), because when the heat has been on you, I think the reaction should be one of relief,” he said.
“I just didn’t want it to tip over to something it shouldn’t be. And the reality is we sit 2-5, so we’ve got nothing to celebrate. We’ve still got plenty of hard work to do.”
