North Melbourne captain Jess Jones is poised to make a powerful impact as the Kangaroos' VFL Women's program closes in on its third season.
Jones returned to Arden Street in February after a stint with Carlton's senior team, having been a key cog in a Roos outfit that narrowly missed the finals last season.
"It's really nice to be back," Jones told North Media.

SYNC NOW"It feels like home, it's a really supportive team and environment (and) there's good facilities so yeah, it's nice to be here."
A true competitor and leader, Jones was named captain of the side a week ago, heading up a leadership group featuring experienced duo Brooke Slaney and Brittany Gibson as vice-captains, as well as Emily Paterno, Teagan Bradley and Mietta McDonald.
Despite being well-suited for the role, the news still took her by surprise.
"I was pretty speechless (when I found out)," she said.
"I think it's a big honour to be voted in by your teammates, so it was awesome to get that recognition and now I'm excited to get into it and help the team deliver on our goals for this season."
Looking to build on her career, Jones' most recent chapter took place in the AFLW, where she spent a season as a Blue having been selected with the 67th pick in the 2022 AFL Women's Draft.
The experienced defender didn't feature for Carlton, but she expressed just how valuable the opportunity was.
"It was great to be a part of an AFLW club and get that experience at the top level … even though it didn't pay off with games," she reflected.
"It was a whirlwind I guess; we finished the (2022 VFLW) season and had about four weeks off, and then I was drafted, and we went straight into it."
Now the Kangaroos' key driver on the field, she'll be complemented by coach Steph Binder, with both primed for their second seasons in blue and white.
"We're a good team together," Jones said of their relationship.
"I think we both have a really clear direction of where we want to take the VFLW program and we're both very much on the same page of what it's going to take to win some silverware.
"So, we're pretty excited that we've got a bit of consistency now with both of us being in our second year at North Melbourne."
North Melbourne's VFLW side will face Collingwood in a practice match at Arden Street Oval on Saturday, March 4, with bouncedown at 1pm AEDT.
