Tasmanians are being swept up by footy fever with the home and away season fast approaching and its fans of all ages feeling the hype.

Take little Michael Hanson for example; just months after being born, he became one of the club’s first Tasmanian Baby Joey members since North announced its plans to play two games a year at Blundstone arena in Hobart from 2012 and beyond.

“He can't wait for the games to start, bring it on!” his grandfather and North Melbourne-mad supporter Russell Hanson told kangaroos.com.au.

“We think his grandad may be having a good influence on him,” he joked.

North will play in Hobart as the home team against GWS in round two and the Eagles in round 15. One thing’s for sure, Michael’s grandfather will be there watching and he’s thrown the challenge out to other locals.

“If all the 2011 members found five new Tasmanian members for the club, there would be an additional 8,000 members or close to 10,000 Tasmanian members all up. It can happen, let’s find those members, let’s fill the ground to overflowing.”
