With the 2022 AFL Draft not far away, North Melbourne list and recruiting manager Brady Rawlings has provided an insight into what the plan is for pick No.23.
The Kangaroos currently hold picks 2, 3, 23 and 40 heading into the first night of the draft, and with father-son prospect Cooper Harvey, son of iconic Roo Brent, projected to land at North with the 40th selection, pick No.23 potentially stands as the club's last live selection.
"Knowing who some of the players are that are going to come in, it does make you look at pick 23 a little differently," Rawlings told AFL.com.au.
"But having said that, we'll have to wait and see who's on the table after the first night.
"We'll assess after that (first) night - we've got plenty of time to strategise after as well.
"We do have a couple of different types of players that we think might be available at 23."
With plans in place for North to select aforementioned youngster Harvey with it final selection of the draft, the Northern Knights product is aware the club cannot guarantee it would match a bid.
"We have positioned ourselves that if (a bid) came at a late pick or not at all then we'll obviously take him," Rawlings said.
Despite missing some games due to injury, Harvey capped off his 2022 campaign in impressive form playing for both the Northern Knights and in Victoria Metro's highly talented squad in the U18 Championships.
"He's a really talented player," Rawlings mentioned.
"He's a bit bigger than his dad which wouldn't be hard, but he's a strong player, strong hips and strong body, and he came and did a month with us in the pre-season last year and he did well, which gave us a bit of confidence."
